Bizarre Politics Reports:
For whom the silent bell tolls continued
January 2008- A silent bell tolls again. A silent depression for many remains silent.
National City Bank in the USA cuts another 900 jobs. They already had cut 450 jobs in August, 850 in September and 1,200 in November. Wachovia Bank cuts 243 jobs in Texas. Homeowners continue failing to pay their mortgage payments while foreclosures keep breaking records. Chyrsler cuts 1078 in St Louis. Just when you think there are no more jobs left to cut, more jobs are cut.

Back to the Future - in the Greenspan era
Let us go back in time a bit as we have in our other post about the Greenspan era for the whom the bell tolls. However, back then Greenspan and President Clinton were proclaiming prosperity. We showed the number of jobs losts and company closedowns in 1998 in the other post and many of the computer manufacturers who closed their doors. Here is another Back to the Future list not included in the last for whom the bell tolls list. Most of these mini and so called super computer manufacturers are gone or downsized significantly. This includes more than a million workers in the computer industry who lost their jobs while Greenspan was an Economic Adviser to Presidents and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank.
