Bizarre Politics Reports:
Economic Limbo
Senator McCain is in no man's land when it comes to the state of labor and work in the USA. Hillary and Obama also hide from the realities of the streets with Hillary being part of the problem and not part of the solution. Neither have spoken about the terrible voids in unemployment insurance.
The letter below is related to Senator McCain proposals to revamp unemployment insurance without telling it like it is.
From the Cleveland Plain Dealer May 24, 2008
Most Workers are in economic limbo
Regarding Sen. John McCain's plan to revamp unemployment insurance: Before talking about changing it, he should first define what we have now. And what we have now is not what it used to be - just as unemployment reporting is not what it used to be.
Some time ago, The Plain Dealer reported that only about one-third of all workers in Ohio qualify for unemployment insurance with the national figure being about 38 percent. That means more than 60 percent of all workers are in limbo when it comes to losing their jobs. Most workers do not make work enough hours or make enough money ( in any particular job) to qualify for unemployment insurance.
The United States is now a country of part-time jobs, temporary-help jobs, contract jobs, sideline jobs, under-the-table-jobs and whatever-it-takes-to-survive jobs. People who live in McCain's world do not get it.
They do not understand this because they are not part of the 60 percent who live in economic limbo.

(Hillary and Obama never mentioned this about unemployment insurance which indicates they too are not with it when it comes to the real world on the streets of USA. In fact, Hillary was there when her husband passed all the acts that betrayed the American worker. See Clinton Years, American Dream Reversed - or search under this phrase for millions of search result referenced on Yahoo or Alta Vista. Google reduced their search results under the phrase when the current presidential campaign started.)
