This continues our commentaries from our last post about sorting out the big issues based on Elizabeth Sullivan's overview Sunday before the election
Sorting out McCain, Obama on the big issues - Elizabeth Sullivan ... Plain Dealer Columnist. In the final days of a historic election campaign, both Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama have ... see
Sorting out the issues for the future
1. The Wall Street Meltdown
Elizabeth Sullivan says - Senators McCain and Obama are remarkably alike in favoring steamlining depression bureaucracy in creating accountability for financial institution.
It seems like they are both for streamlining a real silent depression instead. Both were fishing for a check offs for Wall Street greed without any real dedication. I don't think anyone can fill the voids due to so many money products being manipulated based on false values. As long as this goes on, no one can correct the fanancial markets from living off the working poor and the underclass. No Congressional probe will help either because no one in Congress or the Senate are up to the job or brave enough to really get to the root causes of our financial mess.
Nothing will be done about the millions who lost everything as the House of Bush, Clinton and Greespan falls. Obama will just fall in line with them because corporate America and vast Trans-national Corporations ruled the game with their funny money tactics.
The only thing that will work is bringing back production and real jobs to America. Also a total new tax system has to be found. Taxes like the Payroll tax represent a tariff on work and knocks out businesses. Foreign companies don't worry about things like this and they know the American consumer will shop their way out of their jobs.
We need to re-establish local value added economies where value is grown through several levels up to retail and then recycled back down again. The only real money standard we have left is the value of workers and labor. All other paper money values are banking up against each other and ultimately add up to no real values at all.
Both parties and the media were naive about small business. Joe the Plumer was a poor analogy too. In reality, about 80 percent of all small business start ups fail within the first three to five years. Both Senators McCain and Obama talked about freeing up businesses using a $250,000 level as an example. They ignored what it takes to produce $250,000 from a business and most small business people hang up for a long time before the try to take a leap into the big arena. A small business has to take in about $3 to $4 million dollars gross to even think about getting $250,000 dollars out of the deal. They need to think not only about taxes but things like insurance and workers comp. before they take the leap. Then if they are Christians or people of good will, they have to worry about paying their workers a living wage and not live off the suffering of others like other business people do. Most likely they will first try to work things out partnering with others in some way to avoid all these things.
Then if they do take the leap, they enter into a whole new ball game of risks that the average voter, politician and media know nothing about. Or, they do the old monkey thing about seeing no evil and hearing not evil.
With Globalization and Free Trade, all the false values of economies in this global arena have to be hidden by wars too. The elder Bush created the scenario leading up to the first Gulf War, Clinton followed with his Wag the Dog wars where we practiced reversed ethic cleansing, boosting terrorist training in the process while he used the Social Security to fund his wars. Then Bush the Second followed with his pre-emptive unjust wars. Now we have Obama saying we must get out of Iraq and take the war to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Meanwhile the financial markets hiding behind all this, will keep trying to do their thing with power and greed steering the way.
