The Contract with America Republicans led by Newt Gingrich took control of Congress and President Clinton apolgized for his administration and told the people he would work with the new congress.

Color all the states purple - this is the color when red (states) and blue (states) are mixed together. There really is no difference in the major poltical parties in the USA
The 2010 election is a replay of the 1994 election when the Contract with America Republicans took over congress. The main issue of Globalization and Free Trade was not part of the contract back then and the same applys today. Both parties just put cosmetics over the issue. Both parties talk about avoiding "protectionism" but no one can give a time when " protectionism" ever controlled economic events like Free Trade has for so many years.
Back in 1994 after the election, House Speaker Gingrich, President Clinton and even Rush Limbaugh walked down the path hand in hand with each to the altar of greed celebrating Free Trade and Globalization.
President Obama follows them and bails out big money interests that caused the economic crisis and puts them back in charge again. In the State of Ohio
Republicans who come from the Contract with America era, now take over.
The new governor Kasich and the new senator Portman played a large part in the betrayal of human dignity in the workday and now join in the walk with the others in endless race to the bottom.
The color of purple really rules over our land as free traders from both parties press on even though their past efforts caused the global economic crisis. There are no red or blue states.
The free traders from both parties allied with the major news channels tell the people it is time to play potato head. Each party tells their members it is time to plug in your eyes and ears and listen to the distant calls of Globalism with its tool being Free Trade.
Once in awhile one of them slip up as Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke did when he told congress during President Bush's economic stimulus programs that the best way to stimulate the economy is to buy "domestically produced goods." These words were silenced as the extra stimulus money was spent at the retail level with the money quickly evaporating fanning out to the places where the products we use are made in far away places like China.
Only a handful of political leaders condemn NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, WTO etc and even less say it is a major cause of our economic crisis.
And I did not hear any of them say that only local value added economies in balance geopolitical settings work - where there are several stages of added value from the raw product level to the retail or end user level.
