Plain Talk is left out of the news

Copy this letter to your newspaper.

He has the whole world in his hands
World needs real World News

The Cleveland Plain Dealer Publisher and Editor tell us about the future
of their newspaper but its future is challenged mainly by the many
untold stories that never been told. People have to scour the internet which has
many flaws and talk radio for real world news.

Here are some untold stories waiting to be told by newspapers and other major
news channels:

1. Who said we had to compete in a global economic arena like this and
why? Obviously, globalization and free trade have been driven by
external forces and not in any natural economic fashion. These issues
are not covered in regular news channels.

2. Has the U.S. Federal Government sponsored the funding of programs to
move U.S. factories outside the U.S. and why? The government started
these programs in 1956 and no one seems to want to talk about it.

3. How is the unemployment rate data gathered ? It is obviously
different from the way it was gathered in the past. During the Great
Depression, we had 25 percent unemployment and most likely the same rate
applys today if compared in the same way. Today someone making only $100
a month is considered employed. Imagine if someone making only $10 a
month during the depression was considered employed. In the 1970s, there
would have been a Congressional inquiry about all the contradictions.

4. What happened to the term underemployment that was used to describe
job conditions years ago on a regular basis? This term is a key to
restoring our economy.

5. Only 38 percent of all American workers, qualify for unemployment
insurance, where is the other 62 percent and how many are missing in
action from any kind of reporting?

6. The health care industry costs are out of balance with the
competitive incomes of other businesses and individuals. When will this
imbalance be reported and considered as a main problem behind health
care? Many even with Medicare and Medicaid are now forced to ration
their health care on a regular basis too. None of this is really
reported.

7. In the auto industry, all reporting seems to be based on the term
"built in America" with the term "made in American" now obsolete. This
important distinction should prompt many articles and considerations of
our problems but no articles are written about this.

8. The Wall Street Journal reported about what other cities are doing
about restoring their economies with most of the example based on local
driven solutions and local value added economies. Why is this important
"cause" and "effect" left out of most news reporting. The top employers
in most of our major cities are now governments, medical and educational
institutions. All need taxpayer support in order to function while private
sector workers who pay the taxes are losing their jobs.

9. How can anything be compared to the causes of the Great Depression
and the recovery if the situations are completely different. President
Roosevelt launched the Lend Lease Act saying he was not going to let
the dollar stop him. He launched local value added economies and never
considered sending the economies outside the U.S.A. The term
"protectionism " does not compute either since there was no money back
then to support any kind of trade. It was not about " protectionism", it was
all about a money crisis back then as it is today.

10. When will the Plain Dealer and other major news channels talk
plainly about these issues? Until then, people who seek the real answers
have to look elsewhere for them. How can the very people who got us in
the mess get us out? Why are economic methods based on Ivy League schools
etc. continue, when they are obviously failed methods?

Now President Obama comes and launches a massive monopoly game. In the
play monopoly game, the players get money but no one tells them how the
money was made or where it comes from - etc. Then this so called money
is used by an investment community to make money on money.
The real tangible value of workers which acts a a real money standard is left
out of the picture. Tariffs have been taken off products and put on workers
and future generations.

Who will tell our children why we let this happen? Why are newspapers like the
Plain Dealer mute about it all.
