Our swiss cheese economy has more holes

December 21st 2011 00:29
Bizarre Politics Reports: There was a time in Rome when it was better to be a slave than a freeman.
Our economic mirage continues.
Newspaper editors still endorse free trade. Our article titled - Can not leave free trade out of the Wall Street protests now has many references online. (Search under the title and note all. Even while the Occupy Wall Streets protests pop up across the country, President Obama passed three new trade bills calling them "job bills." On the West Coast, protesters closed down ports for awhile. Those who had jobs in shipping complained about it. No one seems to want to get to the bottom of our economic crisis. It is about missing jobs being the cause and effect of our economic mess. The unemployment figures are a laugh with about 50 percent of all human resources in the USA not being used. Meanwhile, editors of major newspapers keep telling us new trade agreements under the WTO will bring us more jobs. They keep hammering about the pressing need for finding new export markets. They been doing this for more than fifteen years. The US has had a trade deficit since 1994 with trillions of dollars in value lost forever.

Since 1994, our main export has been jobs

First of all, what does the U.S.A. have left to sell. We are now
primarily a nation of retail clerks or government workers. Virtually, all the middle class production jobs have been exported.

Secondly, the jobs were not just lost in just the past five years. The Global
economy is vintage now with more than a fifteen year history of failures. The
U.S.A. has gone through the most massive dislocation of jobs in our
history with little real news about it from any media channel over the
years.

Bill Moyer on Public Television reported some time ago that many states in the U.S.A use workers in India to process welfare clients here in the U.S.A. This is an example of the insanity going on. We should be reading articles about our economy has evolved into swiss cheese with more holes
in it than cheese
.
About 55,000 retirees from the former LTV have their
pension now paid by the government. Airline workers were one of the first to get them paid by the government. The Federal Pension Insurance agency is broke. Now the auto makers now have more retirees than workers. This is an example of an economy that is feeding off itself. How can we find anything to export while all this is happening. In addition, most of the jobs we still have can easily be outsourced. President Obama found this out when he bankrolled some green energy manufacturers. He found out that all the money and all the research and development in the world will not do any good if the production jobs go somewhere else.

" I rather be a slave than a terrorist or being dead

Lost of jobs is a cradle of terrorism. A few years ago, while I was in Chicago, a cab driver who was from Morroco told me that he had to choose to be a victim or terrorist. Since he did not want to kill anyone and wanted to
be a good man, he chose to be a victim. Soon many more may have to
make this choice. There was a time in the history of Rome where it was
better to be a slave than a freeman.
