Unmade in the USA

Bizarre Politics Reports:
Many things we use are no longer made in our country. But worst yet many things are now being unmade too.
Unmade in the USA
We know about what is not being made in the USA but there should be a new category now titled Unmade in the USA. After more than 30 years in the computer field, I tell the young people to stay away from high technology and try to find a niche to fill that represent something for a long term.
This is the real problem now behind Free Trade. So called Free Trade is not trade. It is based on cutting jobs and wages moving production and not products outside the USA. We have lost both old technology and new technology companies. I personally witnessed and experienced more than a hundred high tech companies close down or move out. It seems educators, politicians and government bureaucrats along with the media itself will only understand the devastation of real jobs and the work day in our country only when this devastation reaches their own front door step. All jobs can be replaced now by cheaper labor. All technology can easily be copied when production is moved. Investment in research and development is a bad investment when this happens. What company beside the drug companies want to spend billions of dollars in new products if the production is moved somewhere else. The investment turns into a gift to another country no matter how much stocks are driven by this process.
And who needs engineers when one engineer and one systems person are now the only ones left in many companies. They are left to coordinate the work from many other highly skilled workers outside the USA via the internet and networks. Engineers from India now commute to the USA completely projects. We really have no exports to speak of. Even some of what we have are only parts that were shipped to factories that once were here and now are shipped to the factories that were moved outside the USA and they then call this exporting.
It no longer matters if we have Capitalism, Socialism or Communism when the new "ism" of Globalism takes over. The flow of wealth is controlled by governments, vast trans national corporations and undemocratic world organizations like the WTO and the World Bank. Capitalism is supposed to make it easier for all of us to be good. Now the exploitation of workers everywhere makes this a sham. Our prisons population is breaking all records.
We now have to worry about all the good things that have been unmade in the USA with twenty years of Globalism and Free Trade confirming complete betrayal of the American workers and for that matter workers everywhere.
I tell the young people to try to find a niche somewhere in our shattered economy.
Squid me / 9 - Free Trade fails U.S. - Fee Trade fails all in a global economic arena ( stories from the Baltimore Sun and Washington Times with Ray Tapajna comments.
This post is placed under politics since few blogs have a posting category for free trade and globalization even though they a major causes behind our economic crisis.

Regarding Retraining plan falls short by Greg Mastel and Howard Rosen, they miss the point about what Free Trade is really all about. Free Trade is all about exporting jobs and not products. It is really not trade at all. A retail and service economy that is left, can not support any balance in the process. Too many levels of our economy are missing from the whole. There are no effective worker adjustment programs that will work this way. The U.S. has created a massive working poor class and a destitute working class outside the USA. Neither have any money to make so called Free Trade a reality. I question the Plain Dealer's motives in publishing this trite information. Sent to local newspaper in 2003 related to article about retraining.
