People are shopping their way out of their jobs. Big Government and Big Money control the show. When will people of good will stop this global insanity

A foreign country got billions of dollars from the U.S. Government while U.S. workers were losing their job. Now some political leaders and American consumers do not want to help those who were hurt by their own government. U.S. paid more than $20 billion dollars to Mexico and in turn got the PT Cruiser made by $1 an hour workers. The Big Three U.S. Auto Makers need help now and some are saying they have to learn how to compete down to a $1 an hour worker level. Who will be left to pay for health care and the growing hunger in the USA.

The only real tangible value and asset left in the world is workers and labor. Even economies based on making money on money can not endure when the value of work is deflated. We have had this deflation of the value of work for years now.

What in the world are you doing to yourselves
The impossible dream has turned into a nightmare

After seeing the news about consumers reactions to the U.S. Congressional hearings about helping the big 3 automakers, an auto worker said - I didn't know the American consumers felt the way they do about workers in the auto industry. He said that he did not understand why. GM U.S. branded cars still are manufactured with about 90 percent of the components made in the USA. And they are attacked for doing things this way.

Actually, the American consumers must take the blame too for their participation in the betrayal of workers everywhere. They do not seem to care about the conditions behind the products they buy. Sooner or later the problems reach their own front door and still they attack those who try to keep the American Dream alive. American consumers have chosen to bite the hand that feeds them. Workers in other lands, will also suffer the consequence because the moving of factories from place to place will never end. Competition for the lowest wages is an endless pit. Factory and production are now mobile and portable and ready to move at anytime if workers take action for a better life.

Here's the untold story behind the news.

In the first wave of firings, in the late 1980s, more than 400,000 U.S. automobile manufacturing jobs were lost due to so called free trade and outsourcing. The cost of labor and benefits were the major cause. Free trade is primarily about moving production and factories from place to place for the sake of cheaper labor irregardless of the impact it has on communities and societies. In the U.S., consumers are now also shopping their way out of health care.

Coming into the 1990s, many thought President Clinton would change things for the better just like they are thinking that Obama will do when he takes over. Instead, Clinton became the water boy for the elder President Bush and consummated free trade. ( It is not really trade. It more about making manufacturing portable ready to be moved again and again for the sake of cheaper and cheaper labor. ) (Obama talks in circles around the issue but he never gets into the core of this global insanity. )

Soon after President Clinton and a Democratic controlled Congress consumated the NAFTA and GATT free trade agreements, President Clinton rushed 20 billion dollars to Mexico to save the Mexican economy. President Clinton also said he would funnel more money to Mexico in different ways. What did the USA get in return. The USA got things like the PT Cruiser made by Mexican workers making only about $1 an hour without any benefits - (ref. Congressional Record). There were also reports how new auto manufacturing plants in Mexico and other places that did not need employee parking since the workers did not make enough money to buy the car they made. We all know what Henry Ford said about this - no nation can survive if workers can not afford to buy the things they make.

How can anyone say American auto makers have to find out ways to compete in a global economic arena like this. It is impossilble. And to deny the auto makers help now is the same as losing World War 2 fifty years later. The U.S. government has sponsored the moving of factories outside the USA for years going back as far as 1956. They pay out billions of dollars to a foreign country who in turn flood the market with products made by underclass workers who do not earn enough to buy the things they make.

This is global insanity.
